Firewall - “When opening my Games Player freezes at 99%” , “an IOErrorEvent occurred while loading the XML File” or “Internet Offline indicator”

These issues are typically caused by a Firewall program blocking communication between the Game Player and our game servers.

Use the generic instructions below to configure your firewall, use the links for instructions for specific firewalls.

To configure your firewall to play Games on Demand please follow the steps below.

  1. Close the Verizon Games Player (right click the Red Dice Icon in the bottom right corner of your screen—next to the clock—and chose Exit).
  2. Open your firewall configuration.
  3. Find the application authorization/program control section and:
    • Enable the program gamelauncher.exe (This is the component that makes the EXEtender player run)
    • Enable GPlayer.exe (This component is the EXEtender player's browser. It opens on your screen when you launch a title.)

  4. Try to play your game again.
