Game of the Day

Every day, a new game is selected as our "Game of the Day."  The game chosen may belong to weekly theme, a recent Challenge, or merely be a fun title we feel is worth checking out.  The Game of the Day can only be won once every 24 hours.

How long do I have to play?
If you play the Game of the Day for 30 minutes straight, you will win its associated Prize Point amount.  The Game of the Day must be played for 30 minutes in one sitting, or it will not count.

How many points will I win?
The Prize Point amount varies from game to game, but usually falls between 100 points and 500 points.  Occasionally, a special day might offer more than 500 points for playing.  If you are an Unlimited subscriber, our pop-up player message will tell you how many points that day's Game of the Day awards.  If you are not an Unlimited subscriber or you miss the pop-up alert, the Prize Point amount will be a surprise until you win it.

How do I know I have completed the Game of the Day?
If you complete the Game of the Day, you will be notified on the website via a pop-up message--the same as with any other Challenge.  "Congratulations! You completed Game of the Day and won X points!"  Game play time is only registered after the game has been turned off, so if you are still playing but have already passed 30 minutes, you will not be notified until you exit the game.

What is the Game of the Day today?
To find out what today's Game of the Day is, visit this FAQ.

Or, you can open your Games on Demand player.  A banner with the game, the day, and "Game of the Day" will appear when you have the player open.  This banner will also link to the game's page, so that you can download it directly.  (Note: if you do not see this banner right away, click on the Player "Browse Games" and "My Games" tabs to refresh the banner.  The previous day's banner will likely be cached, so you should do always do this the first time you open the player in a given day.)  See below for an example Game of the Day banner.

The pop-up message Unlimited subscribers receive each day will also tell you the Game of the Day and its Prize Point award. These messages also link to the game's page for easy downloading.
(Please note: for a few weeks starting in January 2010, the pop-up message will not involve Game of the Day.  During this time, every Game of the Day will be worth 500 Prize Points.)

When does the Game of the Day change?  How often can I win it?
The Game of the Day is updated every 24 hours during the week, usually at 10AM PST (1PM EST).  You might open the player at 8AM on Tuesday and still see Monday's GOTD banner--that means the Game of the Day has not been changed yet and you can still win by playing Monday's game.

The Game of the Day for Saturday and Sunday each week will be the same as Friday's.  You can only win points for playing the Game of the Day every 24 hours

Here's an example:
"Peggle" becomes the GOTD Monday at 10AM--you see the banner at 11AM and play for 30 minutes, winning 300 Prize Points.  On Tuesday, "Peggle Nights" becomes the GOTD at 10AM.  If you play "Peggle Nights" before 11AM it will not count towards the Game of the Day, because 24 hours have not passed since you last won the GOTD.

You can win for playing the same game through the weekend, but--as with every other GOTD--only every 24 hours.  If "Diner Dash" is Friday's GOTD and you play it from 6PM-6:30PM Friday, you can play "Diner Dash" again on Saturday at 7PM and win the GOTD.

I played the GOTD and did not receive any Prize Points.
As with all Beta functionality, the occasional problem does arise.  Before contacting support, please make sure that...
1) You played the Game of the Day for at least 30 minutes straight and have exited the game.
2) You have not won the Game of the Day in the past 24 hours.
3) You played the correct game for that day.

If all of the above is true, please contact support and tell them...
1) Your username
2) Which game you played, and that it was the Game of the Day
3) What time you played, if you remember ("I played from 3 to 3:45 PM PST")
The more information you can provide, the closer we can get to the root of the problem so it does not happen again!

Happy (daily) Gaming.~
