Troubleshooting

Q. My game will not run (get an error message)
-------------------------------------------------------
A1. Make sure that the game is on a computer running Windows 98 or higher.
A2. Did you move your Aveyond 2 folder to a new location after you installed the game? If you did, log on to your computer with administrator rights, go to the Aveyond 2\Game folder and double-click regAM2.cmd. Then log into your previous account and play the game.
A3. If you have a system that runs 100% on Unicode because your first language is not English, the game may not have been able to create the folder for your save game files. To fix this, log on to your computer with administrator rights, go to the Aveyond 2\Game folder and double-click ResetSavedGamePath.cmd. Then log into your previous account and play the game.

Q. My game suddenly quits running while I was playing it. (no error message)

A1. Make sure that the game is on a computer running Windows 98 or higher.
A2. Make sure that your trial hasn't run out.
A3. Restart the game twice.

Q. I get a "Script is Hanging" error and then the game closes.
-------------------------------------------------------
This error happens when the game does not have enough memory to run.
A1. Close other programs that are running on your computer.
A2. Restart your computer if closing programs does not help.
A3. Make sure that there are not too many "silent" programs running in your system tray on your desktop.
A4. Make sure that your computer has enough memory to support the game (at least 256 MB of RAM).

Q. My game is running very slowly
------------------------------------------------------
This can happen when the game does not have enough memory to run the game, your computer gets too hot (especially laptops), or if you are downloading something from the Internet (for example, Windows Update).
A1. Close other programs that are running on your computer.
A2. Close the game and restart your computer.
A3. Shut down your computer for a few minutes.
A4. Make sure that there are not too many "silent" programs running in your system tray on your desktop.

Q. My saved games are missing
-----------------------------------------------------
If you are using a computer that requires you to log in as an administrator to install games, you may have accidentally saved your games in the administrator's profile. This can happen when you install the game in administrator mode and immediately play the game while still in administrator mode. Don't worry! You can still get back your saved games. You need to move them out of the administrator's profile and into your profile.
1. Log in to your computer as an administrator.
2. Go to the administrator's Aveyond 2 save game folder:
    -Vista: C:\Users\[admin name]\AppData\Roaming\Aveyond II
    -XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[admin name]\Application Data\Aveyond II
3. Copy the save game folder (Aveyond II)
4. Go to your Aveyond 2 save game folder:
    -Vista: C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Roaming\Aveyond II
    -XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[your name]\Application Data\Aveyond II
5. Paste the same game folder into your Application Data folder. It should overwrite the existing Aveyond II folder.
6. Log out as an administrator and log into your user account.
7. Play game.

Q. My save game file won't load and I get an error
---------------------------------------------------
If you get a message that looks like this when you open Aveyond, one of your save game files has become corrupt. Unfortunately, the only way to fix this problem is to delete the corrupt save game file.

Vista: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Aveyond II
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Aveyond II



Walkthrough

This walkthrough will show you how to complete the first quests in Aveyond 2 until you rescue Iya. After you rescue Iya, you'll have 
to figure out the other 75% of the quests.

1. Start game.

2. Talk to your mom.

3. Go to the Elder Oak (west of the village) and talk to Iya.

4. Search the forest for treasure chests. One contains a wooden shield, and one contains a hunting knife.

5. Equip Ean with the wooden shield, and equip Iya with the hunting knife.

6. Go to the beehive (east of the village) and fight the queen bee.

7. Click on the big glob of honeycomb that the queen bee was protecting to add a chunk of it to your inventory.

8. Go back home and give mom the honeycomb.

9. Go to bed. Watch Iya's dream and her abduction by the Snow Queen.

10. In the morning, go talk to mom. She won't remember Iya.

11. Go into the village and talk to every villager. Many of them will say they don't remember Iya.

12. Go to Iya's cottage and talk to her mom, sister, and grandma.

13. Go search Iya’s room (you must talk to villagers first for this to work).

14. Take the ribbon from under the floorboard in Iya's room.

15. Go talk to the village elders.

16. Go talk to the Elder Oak (make sure to talk to elders first).

17. Go through the portal in the Elder Oak. It takes you to the Land of Man

18. Take the canoe up to the snowy Spire Mountains.

19. Go through the Spire Mountains to the snow kingdom, Shaenlir.

20. In Shaenlir, search the houses for treasure chests. Find the one that contains Servant Clothes.

21. Go to the castle and put on the Servant Clothes.

22. Use the servants entrance to enter the castle.

23. Find Iya and talk to her.

24. Leave Iya’s room. You will see the Snow Queen talking to her general about the demise of the kingdoms and Iya.

25. Go back to Iya and try to convince her to leave. She doesn't believe the snow queen wants to hurt her.

26. Leave Iya's room. You must go warn the kingdoms about the Snow Queen's plans if you want to save Iya.

27. Listen to the Snow Queen plot to kill Iya.

28. Pick up the mirror that the Snow Queen dropped.

29. Take the mirror to Iya. The heroes look into the mirror and see the Snow Queen turning all of the guests to ice.

30. Iya finally believes that you aren't crazy and the Snow Queen wants to kill her and take over all of the kingdoms. She joins your 
party.

31. Iya shows you a secret way out of the castle through the castle kitchen.

32. Take the secret door in the kitchen to the sewers.

33. Iya seals the secret door so that the Snow Queen can't follow you.

34. Search the first room in the sewer for treasures. You will find some traveling clothes for Iya. Have her put them on. (If you want 
to play Iya, make her the leader of the party)

35. Find your way out of the sewer (look for levers to reveal a secret exit).

36. Escape through Wyvern pass.

37. Talk to the old lady who lives in the cottage at the base of Wyvern Pass. She has some important news about Iya's spirit. This is 
when Iya's quest begins.

38. Go back to Ryva and meet Rye.

39. Go to your canoe and ride it to the rock that blocks the way to Thais. Rye will blow up the rock.

40. Go to Thais (big city east of Ryva). This will start your quest to unite the kingdoms and help them defeat the Snow Queen.

And that's it! The first 25% of the game. You'll have to figure out the other 75% of the game yourself. There are lots of amazing little quests waiting for you to discover. Help a wicked witch find a husband, turn a warthog back into a prince, help the unicorn girl escape her captor and return to her forest, uncover Ean's ability to turn into animals.
